Teaching Specialist - Secondary (English, Math, Malay) (Freelance)

Location: Pasir Ris, Tampines,  Choa Chu Kang, Woodlands, Jurong West, and Online

Job Summary

Teaching Specialist is responsible for monitoring the academic schedule and compliance areas of the company. Responsibilities will include classroom teaching, classwork and assessment. The deliverables of the teaching must be required in accordance with the policies and guidelines set forth by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Tutor shall adhere to Edufront’s academic calendar and semestral lesson structure when planning for the assigned classes’ lesson plans.
  • Lessons must be interesting, engaging, and relevant. This includes the use of multimedia presentations, videos, and experiments for science and maths manipulatives.
  • There must be an adequate balance between classroom teaching, classwork, and assessment.
  • Tutors shall undertake differentiated teaching to cater to students of different ability levels.
  • Tutors shall be given the flexibility to use their own teaching tools and materials (e.g. videos, ppt slides) to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • The Tutor must actively monitor the work of all students throughout the lesson (i.e. tutor shall not sit behind the tutor’s desk for a prolonged period of time without actively moving around the class to monitor the students).
  • Teaching must be adequately done prior to giving out any classwork.
  • All classwork given to students must be marked on the same day where possible. Otherwise, it must be marked and returned by the following lesson. Marking has to be done by Tutor using red ink and returned to students by the next class. Self-marking or peer marking without additional marking by Tutor is strictly not allowed. Tutors are to ensure worksheets are filed accordingly after it is returned to the students.
  • Edufront has file checking and lesson observations as part of our quality assurance. Tutors are to cooperate fully during those checks and ensure any discrepancies are corrected immediately.
  • The Tutor shall mark all students’ attendance and indicate the student’s absence in the attendance file.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Education or PGDE (NIE/NTU)

  • Report directly to the Manager, Operations Department (Singapore) to support its various functions of operation services
